A last minute trip to Waxahachie, TX came up at the end of April. While we were there for an unplanned family event, we took our #3 and my sister (Emily) to the downtown area for a little over an hour to walk around. The weekend was an emotional one, and our #3 had been a trooper. We felt a little side adventure was in order to help break up the weekend.
The downtown area was mostly closed due to it being a Sunday and the time of day. But the amount of stores, flea markets, and food choices was awesome. If everything was open I am sure this would have been a full day of wandering. I am glad that we took the time to take a this side adventure. The weather was perfect and the walk was a mind break for us all. My sister lives in St. Louis so we rarely get to see each other. I loved hanging out with her and truly believe #3 loves her more than me. It was so cool to see them play and hang out together all weekend. We 4 just spent some awesome time spent together laughing, acting silly, everyone eye rolling at me for wanting to take pictures, and some amazing milkshakes!
I mean can you beat all the original architectural features of this place? I am a modernist at heart but this place was beautiful. Farm Luck was the place to be after church so we were glad we got there before the rush. I loved the slogan on all the shirts and the wall “Ice water as cold as Amarillo.”
I asked my sister to take our picture… This was attempt #1. She got it right the next couple tries.
As hard as the weekend was, I am so thankful for my time with all my family and that we got to travel/ have an adventure with our #3 before she leaves us. Even in the midst of sadness, there is still joy to be found. Remember we get one life so live it up, eat good food, and enjoy time with people.
