We love showing off the city we currently call home. Washington DC has so many awesome places to check out, but we want to show you how to see them on shorter time frames. The National Mall in DC is over 2 miles long with well over 40 sights/ attractions. It is easy to get overwhelmed so we want to break it down into manageable excursions.
Last week we wrote a post (National Mall West Side: Weekend Walks With Locals) with a walking tour of the National Mall’s west side. The post includes a map with a walking tour, photos, and tips to see everything in one day.
National Mall Video Tour
This week we are highlighting the video we (Dustin) created to show how to see this National Mall DC west side.
Travel Tips
- It is impossible to see everything on the National Mall in a day if you want to visit museums. Do your research ahead of time to see what you really want to see.
- If your goal is to walk the whole National Mall and focus on seeing the outdoor stuff, check out this post we wrote that has a walking tour of the whole National Mall/ Tidal Basin.
- Get a metro card and use the public transit. It is expensive to Uber everywhere you want to go, and the public transit here is amazing. The Circulator bus caters to tourists with routes that take you to tourist attractions including the National Mall, Georgetown, and the Zoo.
- Don’t forget: Comfortable shoes, bug spray, water, and sunscreen in the summer.
