Quick Trip to Annapolis Maryland

Annapolis Maryland Waterfront

We went into the weekend not knowing what we were going to do.  When an errand for Dustin’s motorcycle came up in Annapolis, Maryland we decided to stay for a couple hours to explore.  Now that we brought our vehicle to DC from storage, we are loving the idea of seeing some places just outside of our home.

**Covid-19:

Dustin and I wore our facemasks at all times except when eating. We also tried to maintain social distance. The city expanded sidewalks to create outdoor seating for restaurants, and in some cases even shut down streets. Remember to get out responsibly and stay home if you feel sick.

What we did:

We did some walking around the downtown waterfront and area in general. Watching the boats come in and out of the dock, while people stopped in to grab their lunch or to restock their supplies was so much fun. If we had more time, I would have loved to sit on the patio of the dock front restaurants to just sit and watch the boats.

A 5 minute walk away from the water took us to the Maryland Statehouse, where we walked around quickly.

Architecture:

You know I was obsessed with the shaker front homes and amazing architecture. I am a sucker for a row home community filled with history. We passed an architecture museum in the area that we didn’t have time to go in. I don’t even know if it was open, but I cannot wait to get back and check it out.

Food/ Coffee:

What did we eat you ask? Duh, Lobster Rolls of course. I felt that growing up in the midwest with an east coast mother, I was regaled with stories of the amazing seafood dishes only found in the northeast. Now we live so close, I am excited to test this out. I did a quick google search and Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls was top of all lists. We were also able to find a small table to eat outside, so we stopped for a roll.

We also grabbed a quick coffee before we left to head home to Washington DC. Another quick google search (as unprepared as I was for a travel moment, google saves the day) revealed that Brown Mustache Coffee was the place to go. Located very close to downtown, the building is also a bookstore. Their setup is a little different due to covid. Take the alley to the left of the building and around the back is the order/ pickup windows with a large outdoor seating area. The coffee was really good so highly suggest giving them a visit.

Parking in the Annapolis Maryland area is hard. It is 2 hour parking if you happen to find a parking spot on a further out street. The pay to park area is quite small so carpool or be prepared to drive around on the busy summer weekends to find a spot. Or if you are a baller and know someone with a boat, have them drop you off…

Enjoy your week!
